Vineeta Puranik appointed as CTO at SmartBear

SmartBear has promoted Vineeta Puranik to the role of Chief Technology Officer (CTO), as the company looks to bolster its technology strategy in the wake of rapid advancements in artificial intelligence (AI).

After leading SmartBear as Senior Vice President of Engineering and DevOps for four years, Vineeta Puranik takes on her new role with a focus on development, cloud engineering, AI, architecture, and the company's overall technology strategy. She will lead a team of more than 400 individuals.

Vineeta Puranik's career in software engineering leadership spans over two decades, with significant experience in multi-shore development, cybersecurity, and acquisition integration. She has been integral to the organic delivery and technical mergers and acquisition integration at SmartBear, along with scaling centres of excellence in India and Poland and launching the company's Developer Academy.

In her capacity as CTO, Puranik will aim to integrate AI into SmartBear's operations, driving forward innovation and ensuring secure, high-quality product development practices. Alongside this, she is committed to prioritising people, retention, and training teams in contemporary technologies.

SmartBear recently announced the availability of its SmartBear API Hub featuring HaloAI, offering an AI-driven capability across its product offerings. Additionally, the company unveiled the SmartBear Insight Hub, which provides robust observability features to help development teams monitor application performance and reliability on a large scale.

Vineeta Puranik was also recognised as a 2024 "Women Worth Watching" in STEM by Profiles in Diversity Journal, an acknowledgement of her role as a trailblazer for women and girls aspiring to pursue successful careers in STEM fields worldwide.
