Symantec opens India Security Operations Center to support Asia Pacific
Symantec has opened the doors to its new Security Operations Center (SOC) in Chennai, India. The facility is the company’s largest SOC in Asia Pacific and Japan and will support customers across the region.
According to Symantec’s Internet Security Threat Report 2018, India and China are ranked as the second and third countries with the most detected threats in the world.
On top of that, the cloud generation has accelerated the need for organisations to rethink their security requirements as they become increasingly focused on high connectivity and protection to safeguard their most valuable asset – data.
The Chennai SOC will run through Symantec’s Global Intelligence Network with the support of more than 100 trained and qualified cybersecurity professionals.
“The cyber attacks that companies, governments and people face today are multi-faceted, requiring the combination of Symantec intelligence, technology and expertise to bolster defenses to stop advanced threats,” says Symantec’s executive vice president and general manager of Cyber Security Services, Samir Kapuria.

While the Chennai SOC is just the latest rollout, Symantec CEO Greg Clark says the company continues to invest in all of its global SOC locations.

Symantec’s 500+ certified cybersecurity professionals across six global SOCs analyse over 150 billion security logs worldwide each day to provide enterprise-wide protection, helping organisations strengthen their defenses and respond to new threats as they emerge around the clock.
Globally, Symantec helps secure 175 million endpoints, 80 million web proxy users, 63 million email users and 50 million consumer users.
