Spinnaker Support names Rex Young Chief Information Officer
Tue, 25th Aug 2026 (Yesterday)
Spinnaker Support has appointed Rex Young as Chief Information Officer, putting him in charge of the company's global technology strategy.
Young will report to Chief Executive Officer Matt Stava. His remit includes modernising technology platforms, strengthening cybersecurity, and expanding the company's use of data, analytics, and artificial intelligence.
The appointment comes as Spinnaker Support expands to meet demand for independent support services for Oracle, SAP, VMware, and PostgreSQL systems. Recent growth has been driven by new and existing customers across those areas.
Young brings more than 25 years of technology leadership experience. Most recently, he served as Chief Information Officer and Chief Information Security Officer at SambaSafety, where he oversaw enterprise IT, information security, digital transformation, AI initiatives, and broader modernisation efforts.
Earlier in his career, he was Chief Information Officer at LogRhythm. His background also includes work with private equity-backed software and technology businesses.
Technology brief
At Spinnaker Support, Young is expected to work on both internal systems and customer-facing technology. That includes building on tools such as Navigator and Spinnaker Intelligence to improve issue resolution and strengthen security across departments.
He will also work with senior leaders across the business on technology projects aimed at improving operations and supporting data-led decision-making, in line with the company's broader expansion plans.
Stava commented on the appointment in a prepared statement.
"Our core technology capabilities shape how we operate and serve our customers. Rex has spent his career turning complex technology environments into engines for growth. His experience modernizing platforms, strengthening security, and putting data and AI to work will help us deliver more for our customers," said Matt Stava, Chief Executive Officer, Spinnaker Support.
Growth phase
Spinnaker Support said it has sustained double-digit revenue growth and cited rising demand in its Oracle, SAP, and VMware practices as more enterprises seek alternatives to vendor support models.
Its VMware business has grown amid licensing changes introduced by Broadcom. The unit has signed dozens of enterprise clients and offers support for organisations running vSphere 7 beyond Broadcom's stated end-of-support deadline.
Outside its core markets, the company has expanded its international footprint. It opened an office in South Africa through a partnership with African Rainbow Capital, creating a regional delivery and engineering hub to support customers across Africa and sub-Saharan markets.
Spinnaker Support said it serves more than 1,300 clients globally, holds a 94% customer satisfaction rating, and employs support teams with an average of more than 20 years of enterprise engineering experience.
Young outlined his priorities for the role in a company statement.
"Spinnaker is growing fast, and that growth has to be matched by technology that scales with it. My focus is on simplifying how the business runs, so AI can do more than automate tasks. Done right, it strengthens security instead of expanding the attack surface, and gives our engineers faster answers instead of more noise. And this isn't just internal IT. I want us building technology our customers benefit from directly, not only what keeps the lights on behind the scenes. That's the foundation I want under Spinnaker as we grow. I look forward to partnering with Matt and the leadership team at a stage where the business has real momentum," said Young.
