NEC Security to safeguard GREEN×EXPO 2027 digital systems
NEC Security has been awarded a contract to provide cybersecurity services for the upcoming GREEN×EXPO 2027 in Yokohama, Japan.
GREEN×EXPO 2027, formally designated as the International Horticultural Expo 2027, is being organised by the Japan Association for the International Horticultural Expo 2027 in Yokohama. This event has been designated an A1 International Horticultural Exhibition, the highest category for such exhibitions as approved by the International Association of Horticultural Producers and recognised by the Bureau International des Expositions.
The six-month event is scheduled to run from 19 March 2027 to 26 September 2027. Under the theme "Scenery of the Future for Happiness," organisers expect approximately 15 million visitors, including 10 million paid attendees, to participate over the course of the expo.
Cybersecurity contract
NEC Security has been selected to deliver a broad range of cybersecurity services for the expo. According to the company, this recognition is based on its extensive experience and advanced technical capabilities. The scope of work includes security monitoring, vulnerability management, incident response, and related operational support services, such as system development, assessment, and training.
NEC Security will be contributing to the stability of international event operations by offering a comprehensive cybersecurity service suite. These precautions are intended to help safeguard the event's digital infrastructure and ensure a smooth operational environment for the anticipated influx of visitors.
Track record and expertise

NEC Security's Security Operations Centre (SOC) employs artificial intelligence technology and incorporates expertise and intelligence gathered from NEC Group operations globally. A new Cyber Intelligence and Operations Centre is planned for launch in the second half of the 2025 financial year.
Incident response capabilities form another component of the company's offering, utilising lessons learned through management of the NEC Group's Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT). The company emphasises its ability to provide on-site support when necessary.

The company's record also includes conducting cyber defence exercises for government agencies and operators of critical infrastructure, both within Japan and on an international scale.
Cyber intelligence centre
NEC plans to establish a new Cyber Intelligence and Operations Centre, which will provide intelligence-driven proactive cyberattack detection alongside conventional SOC functions and incident response support. This facility is intended to serve as a highly advanced security hub, integrating multiple aspects of cybersecurity services for clients including those managing international-scale events.
