Liquibase Secure launches on Snowflake Marketplace

Liquibase has made Liquibase Secure available on Snowflake Marketplace, giving Snowflake customers access to the database change governance software through Snowflake's marketplace channel.

The move brings Liquibase Secure into Snowflake's commercial ecosystem as companies seek tighter control over changes to data environments. Eligible customers can also apply Snowflake Marketplace Capacity Drawdown to purchases, using part of their committed Snowflake spending for the product.

Liquibase Secure is designed to manage changes across Snowflake environments through version-controlled workflows tied to existing CI/CD and DataOps processes. The software can apply policy checks before changes reach production, detect drift between expected and actual environments, keep auditable deployment records, and support rollback when a change fails.

That focus reflects a broader issue for companies expanding their use of cloud data platforms. As more workloads move onto Snowflake, teams are changing not only database tables and views but also roles, shares, stages, warehouses, and tasks that shape how data is accessed, moved, and processed.

In many organisations, those changes are still handled through manual SQL scripts, direct modifications, and separate workflows. Oversight can become harder when multiple teams work across several environments, especially when data systems support core operational or artificial intelligence projects.

Governance scope

Liquibase said the product extends governance beyond traditional schema management to a wider set of changes affecting structure, access, data movement, and execution. In practice, it aims to give teams one method for controlling changes across development and production rather than leaving each group to build its own process.

The Snowflake listing also forms part of a broader cross-platform approach. According to Liquibase, Liquibase Secure supports more than 65 database platforms, allowing customers to use the same governance method across Snowflake and other systems in their database estates.

That may appeal to larger enterprises running mixed environments rather than a single database platform. In those organisations, change management tools can become fragmented when separate teams use different deployment methods, policy checks, and audit processes for each system.

Snowflake Marketplace has become an increasingly important route for software suppliers seeking closer alignment with customer procurement and consumption models. Offering products through the marketplace can shorten purchasing cycles for existing Snowflake customers and fit into spending arrangements already tied to the platform.

Marketplace route

Capacity drawdown is likely to be one of the listing's more immediate commercial features. Eligible buyers may not need to create a separate budget line outside their Snowflake commitments, which can simplify internal approval for software used to manage Snowflake-based operations.

For Liquibase, the marketplace entry also increases its visibility with companies already building data, analytics, and AI workloads on Snowflake. The company is known for its open-source roots through Liquibase Community, which it said has been downloaded more than 100 million times.

The commercial product is aimed at organisations that want stronger controls around database changes in regulated or operationally sensitive settings. Those controls typically focus on reducing the risk of unauthorised changes, documenting who made them, and showing that deployment followed an approved process.

Snowflake framed the listing around the need for stronger controls as customers increase the number and importance of workloads on the platform. Marketplace availability adds another tool for customers looking to standardise how changes are introduced into Snowflake environments.
