Also known as IaaS.
Infrastructure is the big foundational stuff that makes computers and computing work: hardware, software and networking. These resources are often located in data centres and include physical and virtual items, ranging from the buildings themselves and associated support systems such as cooling, racks and fire suppression to computing devices like servers, storage arrays, and enterprise networking equipment. However, infrastructure can also be decentralized and located throughout the network, including at the edge. Infrastructure as a Service alleviates organisations from owning and maintaining their infrastructure, instead procuring it as a remotely provided service for which they pay a fee on a recurring basis.
