Tanium named a Leader in Forrester endpoint report

Tanium has been named a Leader in Forrester's Endpoint Management Platforms assessment and received the highest possible score in 15 criteria.

According to Tanium, the ranking covered areas including vision, innovation and adoption. It linked the result to growing demand from large organisations for tools that can manage a wider range of endpoints as cyber threats accelerate and IT environments become more complex.

Forrester's assessment said Tanium is well suited to enterprises with broad, complex IT and operational technology endpoint environments that need closer alignment between IT and security operations. That positions it in a market where customers are looking for a single platform to oversee devices, patch software, track exposure and support security teams.

The report also said Tanium had built on its 2025 direction to deliver a platform spanning endpoint management, exposure management, security operations and autonomous artificial intelligence workflows. Customer feedback cited in the assessment highlighted secure patching at scale for compliance and real-time visibility across endpoints as key benefits.

Tanium's platform is built around data collected directly from endpoints, which it says can be queried in seconds. The company presents this as a way for IT and security teams to gain a current view of devices across large estates without relying on fragmented point tools.

A central part of the platform is Tanium Atlas, which the company describes as its autonomous operating system. Tanium said Atlas is designed to give a single IT or security operator the data, guidance and reach to carry out work that would previously have required a larger team.

The system uses what Tanium calls ambient agents operating at the system level to continuously observe an environment and highlight issues before a user searches for them. It argues this model reduces manual handovers between teams and shortens the time between identifying a problem and responding to it.

The latest recognition adds to a series of endorsements from major analyst firms cited by Tanium. It said it had also been recognised as a Leader in the inaugural 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Endpoint Management Tools and in the IDC MarketScape for worldwide client endpoint management software for Windows device management.

Those rankings matter in a competitive endpoint management market, where independent analyst reports often influence enterprise buying decisions. Large organisations typically use such assessments as one input when comparing vendors on product breadth, market traction and long-term direction.

Endpoint management has become more strategically important as businesses deal with remote and hybrid working, larger device estates and the convergence of IT operations and cybersecurity. The spread of connected operational technology systems has added another layer of complexity, particularly for companies that need unified oversight across office devices, servers and industrial assets.

Shorter windows between the disclosure of a software vulnerability and active exploitation have also increased pressure on IT and security teams to patch systems quickly and maintain an accurate inventory of assets. In that environment, vendors are trying to distinguish themselves through speed of data collection, automation and the ability to act across large numbers of endpoints from a single interface.

Harman Kaur, Chief Technology Officer, Tanium, said the company saw the assessment as confirmation of that market shift. "When three of the most influential analyst firms reach the same conclusion independently, that's worth paying attention to. The time horizon from vulnerability discovery to weaponised exploit is collapsing - reactive, siloed tools can't keep up. Tanium Autonomous IT was built for this moment. It gives an IT or security operator real-time endpoint intelligence, AI-driven decision-making and the ability to move from intent to outcome without the manual handoffs that cost organisations time they don't have. For us, this recognition from Forrester validates why our customers chose the Tanium Autonomous IT Platform."
