Synology boosts hybrid working in Malaysia with NAS server upgrades
Wed, 24th Jan 2024

As hybrid working becomes the new normal in Malaysia, Synology, a leading Network Attached Storage (NAS) appliance company, has announced the launch of innovative features designed to enhance data safety and improve productivity. The new introductions come as businesses recognise the paramount role of Network Attached Storage (NAS) servers in enabling high-access data availability for remote workers.

Synology NAS servers, powered by the secure DiskStation Manager (DSM) operating system, offer comprehensive data security solutions, with Malaysia identified as a key market. The upgrades include enhancements to NAS login access security, introducing two-factor authentication, multi-factor authentication, passwordless authentication, and IP address restrictions. The firm will also provide business backup solutions for devices, PCs, servers and SaaS accounts.

According to the company, a standout feature is the introduction of Immutable Snapshot, which is specifically beneficial for industries that handle sensitive privacy records, such as finance and healthcare. Together with WriteOnce Shared folders, Immutable Snapshots facilitate swift snapshots and guard against data compromise by enabling Write Once Read Many (WORM) actions for up to 30 days. Jason Sin, Sales Manager for Synology Malaysia, stated, "We have many customers who trust our NAS servers powered by the advanced DSM operating system.

"We continuously bring new features to our devices to ensure the security of our customer's data," he said.

Looking forward to meeting the future demands of productivity, Synology has seamlessly integrated Generative AI into Synology Office and MailPlus, ushering in a revolutionizing era for productivity tools. This integration allows users to effortlessly generate written content by submitting requests through a chat box, simplifying tasks such as writing emails, translating articles, and information searches. Furthermore, the introduction of Mail Merge enhances efficiency in email communication by automating the insertion of recipients' names and email addresses. This feature streamlines the process of email follow-ups, contributing to a more seamless and time-effective workflow.

Looking ahead, Synology is committed to advancing and broadening its array of offerings for businesses in Malaysia. Renowned for its storage solutions that emphasize simplicity, scalability, and security, the company is dedicated to providing comprehensive data management solutions. Upcoming developments will feature enhancements like scale-out capabilities, a new product for enterprise-level data protection, and high-performance products to fit the fast-growing AI storage demands. These advancements are tailored to address the evolving needs of businesses in Malaysia, reinforcing Synology's commitment to staying at the forefront of technology and meeting the dynamic challenges of the market.
