SquareX names Steve Mullett to drive enterprise sales growth
SquareX has appointed Steve Mullett as Vice President of Sales, a move aimed at supporting its enterprise market growth and expansion goals.
Steve Mullett joins the browser security company with over 17 years in enterprise sales, marking a career that includes extensive experience driving revenue at software-as-a-service and cybersecurity organisations. His track record includes senior roles at Wiz, Okta, and EMC, where he has consistently been recognised for building strategic sales relationships and exceeding targets.
Extensive experience
In his most recent role, Mullett was Strategic Account Executive at Wiz, where he spent four years at what the release described as the "fastest-growing SaaS company to reach USD $10 billion valuation". Before that, he spent almost five years at Okta as Regional Sales Manager for Large Enterprises. His tenure there spanned the company's initial public offering period, during which Okta's yearly revenue grew to more than USD $1 billion.
Mullett's career features numerous multi-million dollar enterprise sales deals with Fortune 500 clients. The announcement highlights his ability to develop strategies and relationships that support both customer acquisition and market expansion.
New responsibilities
In his role as Vice President of Sales, Mullett will be responsible for leading enterprise sales strategy and go-to-market operations at SquareX. The focus will be on boosting customer acquisition and extending the company's reach within the cybersecurity sector, particularly in the evolving area of browser security.
His expertise in sales organisations focused on high growth and his understanding of cybersecurity are seen by SquareX as key attributes for this new phase of expansion.
"I am excited to join SquareX at such an exciting time in the company's growth journey. The browser has become the new attack surface for enterprises, and SquareX's innovative approach to browser security with the ability to secure any browser on any device along with providing holistic browser DLP and a next generation approach to secure access addresses a critical gap in the market that every security leader is struggling with. Having worked with enterprise security teams throughout my career, it is the perfect time for me to apply my experience at SquareX and help companies of all sizes navigate the challenges they face with evolving browser-native threats to transform their security posture," said Steve Mullett.
Mullett's appointment underscores SquareX's focus on recruiting experienced leaders to match the expanding requirements and increasing sophistication of browser-based threats faced by enterprises globally.
Leadership comments
Vivek Ramachandran, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of SquareX, commented on the appointment, stating:
"Steve's outstanding track record of exceeding targets and building strategic relationships with enterprise clients makes him an ideal leader to accelerate SquareX's enterprise growth. His experience at high-growth companies, combined with his deep understanding of enterprise security challenges will be invaluable as we continue our expansion plans and help organizations secure their browser environments against bad actors."
SquareX's browser security offerings enable organisations to proactively detect, mitigate, and threat-hunt client-side web attacks including malicious browser extensions, advanced spearphishing, browser-native ransomware, and data loss prevention. The company's solution aims to differ from traditional approaches by integrating directly with consumer browsers, prioritising both user experience and enterprise security requirements.
The addition of Steve Mullett to the executive team is considered part of SquareX's broader aim to strengthen its position in the browser security market as businesses respond to the increasing number of threats targeting browsers across devices and platforms.
