SEON & Domaine partner to bolster Shopify fraud defence
SEON has formed a strategic partnership with Shopify services firm Domaine, linking SEON's fraud prevention software with Domaine's work on Shopify migrations and optimisation projects.
The companies said the arrangement targets merchants moving to Shopify or expanding existing Shopify operations. They positioned fraud controls as a core element of commerce operations during platform changes, rather than a later add-on.
Domaine works with brands on Shopify design and development. The company said it supports more than 100 brands on Shopify and operates across the US, Canada and Europe.
SEON sells a real-time fraud detection platform and also positions the product around anti-money laundering compliance. The company operates from Austin, London, Budapest and Singapore and said it supports thousands of businesses.
Fraud Scope
Under the partnership, Domaine will integrate SEON's fraud prevention into client engagements that involve Shopify platform migrations and implementation work. The companies said this includes projects where merchants want changes to storefronts, checkout flows, and broader commerce set-ups.
SEON said its platform covers several forms of fraud that affect online merchants. It named promotional abuse, payment fraud and refund fraud as areas of focus. Promotional abuse can include misuse of discount codes and sign-up offers, while payment and refund fraud often link to stolen payment details, chargebacks, and disputed transactions.
SEON said the product carries out data enrichment and "action orchestration". It also applies AI-driven analytics and machine learning, according to the companies. They said the system aims to detect suspicious activity while keeping the checkout process smooth for legitimate customers.
The announcement comes as Shopify continues to attract larger merchants and more complex implementations, including multi-market operations and expanded payment options. Platform migrations often create new operational risks. These can include changes in checkout logic, new integrations, and shifts in how merchants handle customer accounts, promotions and refunds.
SEON and Domaine did not disclose financial terms, sales targets, or whether the partnership includes joint product development.
Merchant Projects
SEON said the companies will focus on fraud prevention as part of project delivery for merchants. That approach reflects the operational reality of many replatforming programmes, where merchants review payment providers, fulfilment, customer data, and risk systems during the same period.
"Fraud prevention is no longer a post-launch consideration; it's a critical component of commerce infrastructure," said Matt DeLauro, President, GTM, SEON. "Our partnership with Domaine enables merchants to build fraud protection into their Shopify foundation from day one, whether they're migrating from legacy platforms or scaling their existing operations."
Domaine said fraud concerns often surface during migration planning and implementation work. It linked fraud controls to broader commercial goals that include conversion rates and customer experience.
"As we guide brands through complex platform migrations and Shopify implementations, fraud prevention consistently emerges as a top priority," said Max Rolon, CTO, Domaine. "SEON's comprehensive approach allows us to achieve the right balance between prevention and protection, ensuring a secure environment that doesn't compromise customer experience or conversion rates. This alignment reflects our commitment to delivering enterprise-grade solutions that drive merchant success on Shopify."
Domaine is backed by BV Investment Partners, which it identified as its financial sponsor. The company said the investor works with its executive team on growth and expansion.
SEON said its product uses "900+ real-time, first-party data signals" for fraud detection. It also said the platform works to stop fraudulent transactions before they affect sales.
The companies said the partnership will offer integrated fraud prevention services for Shopify merchants during migrations and optimisation work.
