NinjaOne launches AI tool & appoints data VP Carusone

Wed, 9th Oct 2024

NinjaOne has appointed Joel Carusone as Senior Vice President of Data and AI, while simultaneously introducing NinjaOne AI for Patch Sentiment analysis.

Patching tasks are often perceived as burdensome within IT teams, necessitating manual oversight, examination, and evaluation of available patches prior to implementing them. This imperative process is vital for enhancing an organisation's security measures. Amidst a persisting shortage of IT skills, it is crucial to streamline any repetitive or menial tasks to avoid team burnout.

To address these challenges, NinjaOne has developed the NinjaOne AI for Patch Sentiment, a tool designed to assist IT teams in making more informed decisions by highlighting both positive and negative feedback on patches, thus reducing associated risks and saving time.

Carusone is set to lead AI development and innovation at NinjaOne, focusing on research, development, and the application of technology.

The growth of endpoints, which can be substantial security threats, is notable. According to Enterprise Strategy Group, over 75% of organisations have faced cyberattacks originating from unknown, unmanaged, or inadequately managed endpoints. The traditional patching process, essential for security, has been cumbersome, requiring IT teams to manually oversee, research, and test available patches before deployment.

NinjaOne AI for Patch Sentiment uses generative AI for comprehensive sentiment analysis of Windows KB updates, helping streamline patch management and improving IT efficiency.

The feature's benefits include the ability to make more informed decisions, reducing patch-related risks, and improving efficiency. It provides insights and community feedback, assisting IT teams in determining when to deploy or delay updates, potentially avoiding problematic patches that could disrupt operations.

John Jenkins, Systems Administrator and Network Analyst at Plexis LTD, commented, "NinjaOne cut the time we spend patching in half. Patching is a critical practice for our organisation's resilience, but it had previously been a complicated and tedious effort. NinjaOne AI for Patch Sentiment simplifies how we prioritise the patches we deploy, which makes us more secure and productive. NinjaOne is an unmatched business enabler, and their team continues to listen to and act on our biggest challenges without putting our organisation at risk."

In his new role, Carusone will oversee the development and implementation of AI technology practices at NinjaOne. He will also collaborate closely on AI-related product development, drawing on his experience as Chief Technology Officer at Zeno Technologies and CEO of Radius Intelligence.

Sal Sferlazza, CEO and Co-Founder of NinjaOne, stated, "We are excited about the possibilities and potential of AI, but we're being thoughtful in how and where we're infusing it within our products and inside of NinjaOne. This means having a deep understanding of our customers' greatest challenges, performing ongoing research, and doing substantial beta testing. By welcoming Joel to our team and introducing NinjaOne AI for Patch Sentiment, we're illustrating our ongoing commitment to our customers to deliver innovations that drive success for their organisations without introducing added risk."

Carusone added, "It has never been more challenging – or important – to work in IT, which is why I'm excited to build products for this industry amongst the exceptional team at NinjaOne. We are actively working on AI projects that will make our customers more productive and secure. NinjaOne AI for Patch Sentiment is a perfect illustration of our philosophy – AI should be intentional, responsible, and solve a specific customer challenge."
