NEC Malaysia wins Cisco Service Provider Partner award
NEC Corporation of Malaysia's Service Provider Solution (SPSL) business unit has been awarded the title of Cisco Service Provider Partner of the Year 2024, recognising its strength in delivering integrated network and cybersecurity solutions across Malaysia.
NEC Malaysia, a provider of digital transformation technologies, stated that the award underscores SPSL's capability to integrate large-scale Cisco equipment and manage complex multi-vendor solutions.
The recognition is supported by NEC's global Centre of Excellence (CoE), which equips the company with best practices and global frameworks to serve telecommunications operators and multinational firms alike.
"In today's fast-paced, competitive market, customers are increasingly demanding comprehensive solutions and seamless experiences that support their business outcomes," said Bee Kheng Tay, President of Cisco ASEAN.
"As a trusted partner of Cisco, NEC has shown its commitment to excellence and leadership in networking and security as they help customers modernise their infrastructure to power AI workloads and ensure security and resilience. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to NEC for clinching the Cisco Service Provider Partner of the Year 2024 award and look forward to continuing our partnership with them."
SPSL specialises in cybersecurity and network integration and works with several global technology partners including Cisco, Fortinet, F5, and Nokia.
Its expertise covers Cisco's Mass Scale Infrastructure (MSI), Multi-Operator Core Network (MOCN) integration, Multi-Vendor Integration (MVI), and 5G Security – all contributing to secure and scalable communication solutions.
The company highlighted its position as one of the few system integrators in Malaysia capable of handling Cisco's large-scale network deployments, further enabling efficient and high-performance network operations.
In a move to strengthen its managed services capabilities, NEC Malaysia launched the Intelligent Centre Operations of NEC (ICON) in Johor in March 2024, in collaboration with NEC Asia Pacific. ICON includes both a Security Operations Centre (SOC) and a Network Operations Centre (NOC), aiming to enhance service delivery across Malaysia and beyond.
"Our customers choose NEC because we enable them to focus on their core business while we manage their network and security seamlessly," said Wataru Irie, Managing Director of NEC Malaysia.
"We drive their success by optimising networking, enabling new service creation with enterprise solutions, and accelerating time-to-market through AI-driven automation and enhanced business agility."
He added, "Our robust and sustainable network infrastructure ensures superior service quality, giving them peace of mind to concentrate on growth and innovation while we safeguard their connectivity and security."
NEC Malaysia's approach to working with global technology partners ensures reliable infrastructure and prevents single points of failure, the company said. Its AI-driven solutions also aim to guide businesses in building future-ready networks.
The company's ongoing focus on cybersecurity aligns with national priorities.
With the Malaysian government advancing new measures including the gazetted Cyber Security Act 2024 and the forthcoming Malaysia Cyber Security Strategy 2025–2030, NEC Malaysia says it is committed to supporting the government's ambition to become a regional cybersecurity leader during its upcoming ASEAN chairmanship.
NEC Malaysia has been operating since 1988 and supports services from Kuala Lumpur and Johor, with a presence extending across Southeast Asia.
