KnowBe4 appoints Kawin Boonyapredee as APJ CISO advisor

Mon, 23rd Mar 2026

KnowBe4 has appointed Dr. Kawin Boonyapredee as CISO Advisor for Asia Pacific and Japan, based in Singapore.

He will lead regional customer engagement and thought leadership across APJ, focusing on helping organisations address human risk and AI-related cyber threats. The role also includes industry engagement and advising on how to align security strategy with changes in workforces and technology.

The appointment comes as businesses in the region face rising phishing, deepfake and other social engineering threats. Organisations are also dealing with prompt engineering risks as they adopt more AI tools.

Boonyapredee brings nearly 30 years of experience in IT, cybersecurity and business leadership. His previous roles include Managing Director at Qualys and Head of Security Consulting at British Telecom.

He has also been active in academia, serving as Dissertation Chair and Adjunct Professor in Cybersecurity at Capitol Technology University alongside his industry roles.

Regional focus

The new advisor role reflects growing demand across APJ for ways to manage risks linked to employee behaviour and AI use. KnowBe4 has positioned the role around security culture, which is becoming more important as attacks grow harder for staff to recognise.

These threats include familiar tactics such as phishing emails, as well as newer forms of deception using synthetic audio, video and text. Businesses in the region are under pressure to prepare staff for a wider range of manipulated content and interactions.

David Bochsler, VP of Asia Pacific & Japan at KnowBe4, said the hire supports that effort.

"Dr. Boonyapredee brings a rare combination of deep regional expertise and a strong understanding of how human behaviour intersects with cybersecurity risk," said Bochsler. "As organisations across APJ adopt AI and face more advanced threats, his perspective will be key in helping them move towards a more measurable and strategic approach to managing human and AI risk," added Bochsler.

KnowBe4 has not outlined any further operational changes linked to the appointment, but the remit points to a broader push to deepen its presence in Asia Pacific and Japan. Boonyapredee will work directly with organisations across the region as they review how people, policies and technology interact in security planning.

Career background

Boonyapredee has held senior roles in consulting and commercial cybersecurity organisations, including positions focused on building security programmes for businesses across multiple markets. That background is relevant in APJ, where regional operations often span different regulatory environments, languages and levels of digital maturity.

His experience at Qualys and British Telecom places him among senior advisers moving between vendor, consulting and academic work as companies seek practical guidance on cyber risk. In recent years, firms have increasingly turned to executives with operational experience for customer-facing advisory roles, especially in areas where boards and security leaders want clearer links between technical threats and business exposure.

For KnowBe4, the appointment adds a senior regional figure at a time when cyber risk discussions are moving beyond traditional awareness training to broader concerns about AI-generated content and manipulation. The company says organisations need to strengthen security culture against phishing, deepfakes and emerging cyber threats.

Boonyapredee is also a regular contributor to cybersecurity publications and podcasts.
