Keeper Security enhances Granular Sharing for enterprise compliance

Fri, 12th Jan 2024

Keeper Security, best known for its zero-trust and zero-knowledge cybersecurity software that secures passwords, passkeys, and remote connections, has announced updates to its Granular Sharing Enforcements.

These updates are designed to help businesses to more easily adhere to strict security compliance directives with enhanced visibility and control over employee use and sharing of credentials and records, as well as role-based access privileges, the company states.

The Granular Sharing feature allows administrators to enforce detailed creation and sharing permissions at the user level. This ensures that employees only gain access to resources necessary for their roles. This can minimise the risk of unauthorised access, data breaches, and lateral movements within a network. Additionally, it provides the tools that make it much easier for organisations to comply with ever-increasing regulations and compliance demands.

"It is critical for organisations to have security solutions that help them adhere to increasing regulations and compliance requirements," said Craig Lurey, CTO and Co-founder of Keeper Security. "With Granular Sharing Enforcements, it becomes easier than ever for IT administrators to control the principle of least privilege and streamline operations within their organisations."

The new Granular Sharing Enforcement policies add a higher layer of restrictions that administrators can place on users for both the creation and sharing of records.

As most employees do not need access to all data or functionalities within an organisation, the granular permission controls will allow to adhere to very specific regulations and compliance requirements regarding data protection and privacy enforced by governing bodies like GDPR or HIPAA.

Key features of Keeper's Granular Sharing Enforcements include auditing with clear alerting and reporting on over 100 different event types, version control ensuring consistency and accuracy of data, seamless access on any device, and encryption for secure sharing. These robust controls protect against cyber criminals attempting to intercept passwords or other shared records while in transit.

Keeper Administrators can modify permissions in various ways to suit the organisation's compliance requirements. Most permissions are activated by default for maximum security, however they can be customised to match the organisation's unique needs. The Enforcements have been designed to offer a blend of simplicity and power.

The new Granular Sharing Enforcements will be available for all sharing needs within Keeper's Enterprise Password Manager, Keeper Secrets Manager, and KeeperPAM. All these applications form part of Keeper's zero-knowledge password management and security platform. This gives IT administrators complete visibility into employee password practices, enabling them to monitor password use and enforce password security policies.

Lastly, KeeperPAM offers next-generation Privileged Access Management (PAM) that is changing the traditional PAM market. KeeperPAM offers enterprise-grade password, secrets and privileged connection management within a unified SaaS platform that is cost-effective, easy to use and simple to deploy. It enables least-privilege access with zero-trust and zero-knowledge security.
