Island launches SMB browser platform on Pax8 Marketplace

Thu, 11th Jun 2026 (Today)

Island has launched Island for SMBs on the Pax8 Marketplace, making the product available to managed service provider partners and their small and medium-sized business customers worldwide.

The browser-based workspace combines security and access tools that many SMBs often buy separately. Built on the Chromium open-source browser project, it brings together functions including VPN replacement, web filtering, data loss prevention and password management in a single product.

The listing places the product in Pax8's distribution channel for cloud services and software aimed at smaller businesses, where MSPs can provision, manage and bill for it alongside other marketplace tools. Partners can also start a 14-day trial on behalf of customers.

The launch reflects a wider push by software suppliers to simplify cybersecurity and IT administration for smaller companies, which often rely on external service providers rather than in-house teams. Vendors are increasingly packaging multiple controls into one subscription to reduce the number of separate products, contracts and support arrangements that MSPs and end customers need to manage.

Island is positioning its platform as a replacement for the fragmented stack many SMB customers use today. For MSPs, that consolidation is both operational and commercial, with one stock-keeping unit, one management console and one vendor relationship replacing several point products.

Keith Weatherford, Vice President of Channels at Island, outlined the company's case for the launch.

"SMB customers deserve the same level of protection that larger organisations have, without the complexity or the cost of stitching together a dozen different tools," said Keith Weatherford, Vice President of Channels at Island.

"Island solves that problem, and Pax8 is the premier partner to bring it to the MSP channel," he said.

What is included

The product includes browser-level safe browsing, anti-phishing measures and web content filtering. It also includes Zero Trust Network Access through Island Private Access, which can replace legacy VPN use across managed and unmanaged devices.

Island has also built in controls for handling sensitive data, including restrictions on copying, downloading, printing and screenshots. Those controls also extend to AI tools, allowing customers to set data boundaries across web-based AI tools, desktop applications, extensions and connectors through a feature called AI Protect.

Another part of the package is an AI Browser option that lets organisations bring different AI providers into a governed chat interface in a browser side panel. Businesses can connect both frontier models and AI-enabled corporate data through retrieval-augmented generation.

The launch also includes tools for creating and governing AI agents. Administrators can build agents with defined permissions and audit trails, and add human review steps where needed before distributing those agents to users through the AI Automate feature.

A central management console, role-based access control, activity logging and policy enforcement are also part of the service. The platform can also be used to onboard bring-your-own-device users and contractors without mobile device management software or endpoint agents.

Island added that the service includes tools intended to help SMBs support compliance coverage across frameworks and regulations such as SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, GDPR, CCPA and HIPAA business associate agreements.

Channel focus

The Pax8 listing underlines how central MSPs have become to the small business software market, especially in security, identity and compliance. For many vendors, success in that segment depends not only on product design but also on how easily partners can buy, deploy, support and renew services on behalf of customers.

Pax8 framed the partnership around operational simplicity, noting that MSPs want security and productivity tools that do not add to the administrative burden of serving smaller clients.

"Our MSP partners are looking for solutions that simplify how they deliver security and productivity for their SMB customers without adding operational complexity," said Oguo Atuanya, Corporate Vice President of Vendor Experience at Pax8.

"Island brings a unified approach that aligns well with that need, consolidating multiple capabilities into a single platform while supporting partner margin and growth," he said.

Pricing is set on a per-user, per-month basis. Partners selling through Pax8 will receive a 25% margin across all stock-keeping units.
