Indosat & Mastercard launch training to boost cyber skills
Indosat has partnered with Mastercard to launch a new cybersecurity training module as part of a wider collaboration with the Human Resource Development Agency for Communication and Digital (BPSDM Komdigi) under the Indonesian Ministry of Communications and Digital (Kemkomdigi).
Strategic initiative
The new training module is designed to be integrated within a Learning Management System (LMS) that is linked with the Digital Talent Scholarship (DTS) platform. This effort is part of a broader objective to strengthen Indonesia's digital ecosystem, with the aim of preparing one million Indonesian digital talents by 2029. The collaboration positions inclusive and accessible digital training as central to the national strategy, making educational resources available to all segments of society.
Boni Pudjianto, Head of BPSDM Komdigi, Kemkomdigi, Republic of Indonesia, stated, "We are proud to once again collaborate with Indosat in building Indonesia's digital ecosystem. The government is committed to creating a digital environment that is inclusive, secure, and resilient to cyber threats. Through this tripartite collaboration with Indosat and Mastercard, we are laying a strong foundation to prepare one million Indonesian digital talents who are ready to face future challenges and support national digital economic growth."
Training focus
The cybersecurity module will be offered through the existing DTS platform and will provide a range of training resources, from basic to intermediate levels, on digital literacy and cybersecurity topics. It builds on previous partnership activities among the parties and reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen safe and inclusive digital spaces in Indonesia. Each module is practical in nature, using everyday scenarios to equip both the general public and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) with relevant skills.
Irsyad Sahroni, Director and Chief Human Resources Officer of Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, commented, "This collaboration is a tangible demonstration of Indosat's commitment to expanding access to digital education in Indonesia. We are proud to be part of this national initiative alongside Mastercard and Kemkomdigi to develop a generation of digital talents who are competitive and capable of maintaining digital safety."
Targeted skills
The course material, delivered in Bahasa Indonesia, includes instruction on identifying cyber risks, device and system security updates, constructing strong passwords, and avoiding phishing and malware. A certificate is awarded to participants upon successful completion of the module.
Aileen Goh, Country Manager, Mastercard Indonesia, stated, "Mastercard believes that digital literacy and cybersecurity awareness are key elements in building national digital resilience. This program reflects Mastercard's commitment to raising cybersecurity awareness among Indonesians from diverse backgrounds by providing free basic cybersecurity training. We appreciate the dedication of Kemkomdigi and Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison in forging this partnership and implementing the initiative."
Previous activity
The launch follows a previous initiative by Indosat and Mastercard, where both organisations established the Cybersecurity Centre of Excellence to promote public understanding of cybersecurity at no cost. This centre serves to reinforce both companies' objectives to broaden digital inclusion and enhance national cyber resilience through structured and inclusive educational approaches.
