HPE unveils all-in-one secure gateway for small businesses

Today

Hewlett Packard Enterprise has introduced the HPE Networking Instant On Secure Gateway, a multi-functional network solution aimed at supporting small and medium-sized businesses in defending their networks against cyber threats.

The HPE Networking Instant On Secure Gateway is designed to provide comprehensive enterprise-level protection to SMBs that may lack dedicated security teams or extensive IT resources. The system combines features such as firewall protection, intrusion detection and prevention, VPN support, and WAN high availability in a format that is accessible and manageable for organisations without specialist expertise.

Amol Mitra, Vice President and General Manager, Worldwide Small and Medium Business, HPE Aruba Networking, said, "Today's SMBs are under constant pressure to defend their networks from complex cyber threats, with limited IT resources, and a fast-evolving digital landscape.

"Without dedicated security teams or substantial budgets, many SMBs struggle to protect their networks effectively. Traditional security solutions often fall short, leaving these businesses vulnerable.

"The HPE Networking Instant On Secure Gateway addresses this gap, offering SMBs enterprise-grade protection without the need for extensive resources, empowering them to stay secure in a rapidly changing digital world."

The device acts as a first line of defence, using intelligent monitoring and filtering to ensure only safe, authorised activity is permitted and to block malicious threats proactively. By integrating essential security features into one solution, it aims to streamline and modernise network security for businesses with limited technical capacity.

The Secure Gateway is available in two models to cater to different operational needs. The HPE Networking Instant On Secure Gateway SG1004 is equipped with a 1-gig only, 4-port, wired secure gateway, featuring basic routing, WAN resiliency, VPN, firewall, and intrusion detection and prevention system (IDS/IPS) options. The SG2505P variant offers multi-gig connectivity, a five-port configuration, class 4 POE support for powering access points with a total power budget of 64W, and includes all features available in the SG1004.

Mark Ablett, Vice President - Asia Pacific and Japan, HPE Aruba Networking, commented on the importance of the new product for the region's businesses. "The SMB sector in Asia Pacific and Japan is not only vital for the local economies—it's also one of the fastest-growing and most dynamic segments globally.

"The HPE Networking Instant On Secure Gateway empowers these businesses with advanced, yet simple-to-manage security solutions that safeguard their networks and streamline operations. This innovation is key to empowering SMBs to innovate and expand with confidence in an increasingly connected world."

The new Secure Gateway solution delivers several benefits for SMB customers. Enhanced protection is provided through continuous real-time monitoring and automatic updates to IDS/IPS signatures, aiming to guard against evolving security threats. The consolidation of multiple key security capabilities into a single platform is intended to reduce reliance on various tools and vendors.

The company emphasises that the product could lead to cost savings for businesses, as unifying security processes decreases hardware expenditures and the need for third-party security vendors. Built-in high availability features help minimise downtime, and automated incident response functionalities are designed for expedited threat resolution. Automated policy enforcement and detailed audit trails also support regulatory compliance through data protection and logging automation.

For management, the Secure Gateway leverages a cloud-based system that enables SMBs to oversee their entire network via a unified and intuitive interface. This design eliminates the requirement for advanced IT skills. Furthermore, the subscription model is intended to be transparent, removing hidden fees and making enterprise-grade security more accessible to smaller businesses.

The HPE Networking Instant On Secure Gateway is now available to customers globally.
