Heng Leong Hang adopts CyberArk platform for enhanced cybersecurity
Wed, 20th Mar 2024

Heng Leong Hang, a renowned retail brand with over 70 stores in Taiwan, has adopted the CyberArk Identity Security Platform as part of its evolving cybersecurity strategy. The platform offers robust privilege controls, securing both human and machine identities, and provides flexible automation of the identity lifecycle alongside constant threat detection and prevention. The implementation aims to enhance the company's defence of its core systems and customer data.

In the age of digitisation and the growing prevalence of artificial intelligence (AI), the retail industry faces mounting cybersecurity challenges. Heng Leong Hang acknowledges the significant exposure to cyber threats experienced by hundreds of its employees across Taiwan. As the retailer undergoes digital transformation, threats like theft of sensitive employee and customer information and risks to point-of-sale systems have become more acute.

Due to the frequency of cyber attacks on the company, there was a pressing need for improved management and control of privileged accounts, which are considered priority attack vectors. Strengthening security within its on-premises IT infrastructure and business services, including website, e-commerce services, and AWS cloud resources, was necessary to enhance Heng Leong Hang's cyber security strategy. Thus, partnering with CyberArk was critical to elevate how employee identities are authenticated, secured, and managed privileged access.

Several components of the CyberArk Identity Security Platform have been implemented to combat the threat. These sophisticated tools shield employees with privileged access, safeguard workstation endpoints, and allow automated security processes to improve work efficiency and ease compliance requirements.

Centred on intelligent privilege controls, CyberArk provides the most comprehensive security offering for any identity, human or machine, across business applications, distributed workforces, hybrid cloud environments and throughout the DevOps lifecycle.

Timo Lu, Head of the Information Department at Heng Leong Hang, acknowledged the challenge: "The size of our employee pool is our biggest challenge. To solve cybersecurity issues, we first need to address personnel and privileged access issues. Identity security is therefore crucial."

"CyberArk's solutions have not only improved access management and control but also elevated Heng Leong Hang's security posture to a new level, significantly reducing the cyber risks associated with identity theft, exceeding my expectations," said Lu.

Edward Hsieh, Regional Director of CyberArk in North Asia, commented on the collaboration: "We are delighted to have the opportunity to assist Heng Leong Hang in successfully strengthening its overall cybersecurity architecture, thereby protecting its employees, customers and business operations. This not only enhances the trust of their employees and customers, but also provides the necessary security foundation for Heng Leong Hang in an increasingly digitalised cloud-based business environment."
