Hack The Box appoints Gibb Witham as President & CFO for global growth

Wed, 8th Oct 2025

Hack The Box has appointed Gibb Witham as its new President and Chief Financial Officer to oversee the company's financial operations and global growth strategy.

Witham most recently held a position at Paladin Capital Group, where he specialised in investments in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and enterprise infrastructure software companies across the United States and Europe. He has more than 20 years' experience working at the intersection of finance, strategy, and cybersecurity innovation.

Witham's involvement with Hack The Box extends over the last five years, during which he participated as an investor and board advisor. He now assumes an operational leadership role at the company amid recent developments aimed at expanding the company's capabilities in cybersecurity readiness and workforce development.

The appointment follows Hack The Box's recent acquisition of LetsDefend and the launch of its Threat Range solution. Both initiatives are intended to strengthen the company's offering in adversary emulation and cyber defence readiness for enterprises and other organisations seeking to bolster their cyber resilience and talent development.

Leadership views

Commenting on the appointment, Haris Pylarinos, Founder and Chief Executive Officer at Hack The Box, said:

"Gibb brings the rare combination of financial acumen, strategic insight and a deep technical understanding of the cybersecurity landscape. His leadership will be pivotal as we expand globally and accelerate our mission to build and empower the world's cybersecurity workforce."

At Paladin Capital Group, Witham was responsible for leading investments and advising high-growth firms in cybersecurity and related technologies. His close work with Hack The Box's executive team on its Board of Directors has informed his understanding of the company's strategic direction and mission.

Witham commented on his new role:

"Hack The Box has redefined how cybersecurity readiness is developed, validated and scaled across the world. I've seen firsthand the power of this platform, and I'm excited to join Haris and the team at such an important moment and accelerate the next chapter of growth, particularly as AI radically changes both the threat landscape and how security professionals are upskilled, enabling organizations to get ahead of threats instead of constantly chasing them."

Recent leadership changes

Witham's arrival is part of a wider leadership restructure at Hack The Box. Earlier this year, the company appointed Nikos Maroulis as Vice President of AI, Christine Bartlett as Senior Vice President of Marketing, and promoted Gerasimos Marketos to Chief Product Officer. These appointments are intended to reinforce the company's global leadership and accelerate development across multiple dimensions, including artificial intelligence and product strategy.

Business and platform growth

Hack The Box reports a global community of over 4 million cybersecurity professionals, students, and enterprises using its platform. The solutions provided by the company include gamified labs, role-based academies, Capture The Flag competitions, advanced certifications, and AI-enhanced upskilling modules. The platform seeks to address the increasing demand for practical and scalable cybersecurity skills to meet evolving digital threats.

The company's recent funding exceeded USD $66 million, supporting initiatives to empower cybersecurity professionals and enterprises worldwide. Its customer base includes large businesses, government organisations, and managed security service providers seeking to validate their security resilience, reduce breach risks, and develop cyber talent at scale.

Strategic direction

According to the company, the combination of investments in artificial intelligence, recent acquisitions, and leadership appointments is part of a strategic effort to maintain its role as a partner in enterprise resilience, breach mitigation, and workforce capability building. Witham's operational leadership and financial management are seen as contributing factors in the next phase of its international growth, as the cyber threat landscape continues to evolve and organisations seek to keep pace.
