Fastly launches automated DDoS protection service globally

Fastly has announced the general availability of its DDoS Protection service designed to provide automatic protection from Layer 7 and other application-level DDoS attacks.

The Fastly DDoS Protection aims to address the challenges faced by organisations undergoing digital transformation, where every minute of downtime can impact financial performance. Fastly states that traditional DDoS protection measures are manual and ineffective against evolving attack methods, with modern solutions needing to uphold reliability and resilience automatically.

This solution aligns with modern software practices, providing robust security without upfront or continual tuning, thus facilitating rapid software development and operational optimisation.

The service ensures enhanced resilience for organisations, prevents additional attack fees, and reduces cloud expenditures by blocking attack traffic from reaching backend services, maintaining a more consistent cloud cost.
