Cynomi appoints Shane Deegan as Chief Revenue Officer

Sat, 10th Jan 2026

Cynomi has appointed former ThreatLocker executive Shane Deegan as Chief Revenue Officer as the cybersecurity software company seeks faster global growth through managed service providers.

Deegan will oversee global revenue and go-to-market activity at Cynomi. The company focuses on virtual chief information security officer tools and cybersecurity management products for Managed Service Providers and Managed Security Service Providers.

The appointment adds an experienced channel-focused executive to Cynomi's senior team. The company is based in Boston and Tel Aviv and targets service providers that sell security services to small and midsized organisations.

Channel growth focus

Deegan previously served as Chief Revenue Officer at ThreatLocker. He worked there for more than five years and led a period of rapid expansion in the MSP and enterprise markets.

ThreatLocker reported more than tenfold revenue growth during Deegan's tenure. The business expanded across multiple geographies and deepened its presence in the MSP sector.

Deegan has more than a decade of revenue leadership experience in cybersecurity. He has built sales and channel organisations that focus on managed service businesses and recurring revenue.

He said he now aims to repeat that trajectory at Cynomi, where the product set targets service providers rather than end-user enterprises.

"I've been part of a hypergrowth journey, and I'm ready to build the next one - returning to my roots by helping service providers scale and win," said Shane Deegan, CRO, Cynomi. "MSPs are under enormous pressure to deliver measurable security outcomes, prove value, and grow profitably. Cynomi helps translate controls into business context, uncover expansion opportunities, and give partners simple, visual ways to prove impact. We are the guide MSPs need to grow cybersecurity services with confidence - and I'm excited to help accelerate that globally."

MSP-centric strategy

Cynomi positions its platform as a vCISO and security management layer that sits on top of tools used by MSPs and MSSPs. The software embeds structured security workflows that map policies and controls into business-focused reporting.

The company states that it builds its approach on CISO-style decision logic. It aims this at service providers that want standardised delivery models and repeatable security programmes for multiple customers.

Cynomi says its software supports MSPs in several areas. It translates security controls into language that customers use in business discussions. It supports standard delivery and reporting methods across different clients. It aims to increase operational efficiency and lower security workloads. It presents security metrics and outcomes through visual dashboards for customers. It flags potential gaps and projects that can sit in a provider's recurring revenue pipeline.

Deegan said that many MSPs still struggle with how they package, present and expand security services within existing client relationships.

"We're not just helping MSPs secure their customers - we're helping them grow," Deegan added. "Cynomi turns security into a growth engine. We handle the complexity, you take the credit."

Expansion plans

Cynomi chief executive and co-founder David Primor said Deegan's arrival comes at a point where the company is seeking faster partner recruitment and deeper engagement with existing MSPs.

He said Deegan's background in scaling channel-led growth aligns with Cynomi's current stage.

"Shane has already helped lead one of the channel's most impressive growth stories, and that experience is exactly what Cynomi needs at this stage," said David Primor, Ph.D., Co-founder and CEO of Cynomi. "His leadership will be instrumental in accelerating revenue, strengthening our partner ecosystem, and helping service providers turn cybersecurity into measurable business growth. Shane's ability to align strategy, execution, and partner success makes him the ideal fit for Cynomi's next chapter."

Cynomi plans to use industry events as a key route into the MSP community. The company will exhibit and present at the Right of Boom security conference in Las Vegas. The event focuses on cyber resilience and incident readiness in the managed services sector.

Deegan and members of Cynomi's executive team intend to meet current and prospective partners at the conference. The company will discuss approaches that link security service delivery, customer reporting and revenue planning for MSPs and MSSPs.
