CyberSecurity Malaysia (CSM) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Flexxon and AI MSP to strengthen the nation's cybersecurity landscape. The signing ceremony took place at Cyber DSA 2024 in Kuala Lumpur, attended by key figures including Mr Roshdi Ahmad, Chief Operating Officer of CyberSecurity Malaysia, Ms Camellia Chan, Co-Founder and CEO of Flexxon, and Mr Kevin Lim, Technical Director of AI MSP. YBrs. Tuan Fabian Bigar, Secretary General of the Ministry of Digital, and Ms May Chng, Co-Founder and COO of Flexxon, also witnessed the ceremony.

The MoU primarily aims to foster a comprehensive framework for digital transformation by introducing advanced hardware-based AI cybersecurity solutions. The partnership seeks to bolster Malaysia's cybersecurity capabilities through the development of new methodologies and tools designed to safeguard against evolving cyber threats.

"We are honoured to collaborate with CyberSecurity Malaysia, together with our partner AI MSP," said Ms Camellia Chan, CEO of Flexxon. "Working with forward-looking and like-minded organisations that embrace innovation is essential to outpacing cybercriminals that have continued to exploit traditional security methods. This partnership underscores our commitment to providing cutting-edge hardware-based security solutions that protect critical infrastructure and the vast network of data. Together, we aim to set new standards in cybersecurity."

Mr Kevin Lim, Technical Director of AI MSP, shared similar views. "AI MSP is committed to enhancing security standards by implementing proactive measures that address emerging cyber threats. Our collaboration with Flexxon and CSM builds a bridge for the integration of advanced AI-powered hardware solutions, furthering our goal of delivering holistic and effective security solutions across Malaysia," he remarked.

The collaboration involves a series of initiatives aimed at promoting awareness and best practices in cybersecurity. These include organising and participating in cybersecurity outreach events, training programmes, and service initiatives. The overall goal is to facilitate the rapid adoption of cutting-edge cybersecurity technologies within the Malaysian Government and to foster capacity building in information technology and information security across the country.

Flexxon, headquartered in Singapore, has gained recognition for its development of AI-embedded hardware security solutions. The company launched the world's first AI-powered cybersecurity Solid State Drive (SSD), the X-PHY SSD, in 2021. Flexxon's solutions are designed to detect and respond to cyber threats such as Zero Day vulnerabilities, ransomware, and physical intrusions autonomously. The company has expanded its product range to include X-PHY cybersecurity laptops, the X-PHY Server Defender, and the X-PHY Vault.

This collaboration comes at a time when Malaysia is ramping up its focus on cybersecurity governance. The Cyber Security Bill, passed in the parliament on 25 March 2024, includes several provisions to strengthen the country's cybersecurity infrastructure. These provisions encompass the establishment of the National Cyber Security Committee, the licensing of cybersecurity service providers, and enforcement regulations.
