ConnectWise has opened an Australian data centre for its Axcient x360Recover service, extending its business continuity and disaster recovery offering for customers and partners across Asia-Pacific.

The new environment lets managed service providers and internal IT teams using x360Recover store backup data in Australia. The option is intended to address data residency and governance requirements while reducing latency for backup and recovery operations in the region.

x360Recover supports business continuity and disaster recovery across cloud, hybrid and on-premises environments. It supports both direct-to-cloud and appliance-based deployment, allowing partners to use the same service across different customer setups without changing established recovery workflows.

The Australian site is available now to x360Recover partners across the wider APAC market and is SOC 2 Type II certified.

The move adds regional infrastructure at a time when managed service providers face tighter scrutiny over where customer data is held, particularly in regulated sectors and among organisations with strict sovereignty requirements. It also reflects demand for recovery systems that can restore operations after ransomware attacks, outages and hardware failures without relying on distant storage locations.

Rob D'Amico, SVP, APAC GTM at ConnectWise, said the launch reflects practical needs in the region.

"Data residency and recovery confidence are operational requirements for APAC partners, not tick-box features," D'Amico said.

"By investing in local x360Recover infrastructure and expanding the product's recovery capabilities, we are helping partners protect customers closer to where their data lives and recover with greater confidence when every minute matters."

Product changes

Alongside the new data centre, ConnectWise introduced a broader set of updates to x360Recover, including automated backup integrity testing, centralised management across customer environments and hardware-agnostic deployment options.

Automated integrity testing is intended to help service providers and IT teams confirm that backed-up systems and data can actually be restored. A successful backup process alone does not prove recovery will work during an incident.

The service is designed to scale from individual servers to large estates covering thousands of endpoints. It also offers turnkey hardware for partners that want a ready-to-deploy appliance option, alongside support for other hardware configurations.

Another APAC feature is integration with the wider ConnectWise platform, including an Attack-to-Recovery link with ConnectWise SIEM. The aim is to connect security monitoring and recovery tasks more closely so teams can move from incident detection to restoration through a more unified workflow.

Partner demand

Several local partners said the Australian hosting option could widen the range of customers able to adopt the platform.

"Backup and disaster recovery comes down to confidence in the technology, the recovery process, and that we're putting the right solution in front of our clients," said Alexander Slade, CEO of A Corp Computers. "x360Recover has given us that confidence more than any platform we've used over the past 15 years. With an Australian data centre now available, we can bring that same capability to a much broader range of compliance-driven and data-sensitive organisations, without compromising on data sovereignty."

Jordan Jilg, Managing Director at Rummage Technical, pointed to the combination of local storage, testing and security links as key factors for service providers handling customer resilience planning.

"Customers increasingly expect their provider to think beyond backup and deliver true operational resilience," Jilg said. "With local Australian infrastructure, automated recovery testing, reporting and tighter connections between security and recovery, x360Recover gives us more of what we need to identify risk, validate recoverability and get customers back to business faster when an incident occurs."

Regional pressure

MSPs and internal IT teams in APAC are dealing with rising pressure to maintain operations during cyber incidents, natural disasters and other disruptions while also meeting regulatory requirements. In that environment, ConnectWise is positioning x360Recover as a single offering for organisations that want to reduce the number of backup tools used across different systems.

That approach could appeal to service providers seeking to package backup, recovery and security services together. Internal IT departments may also see it as a way to manage hybrid environments with fewer separate products. The platform is intended to support more consistent recovery readiness across distributed infrastructure.

David Raissipour, Chief Product and Technology Officer at ConnectWise, said the company sees resilience and compliance as linked issues for customers in the region.

"Across the broader APAC region, MSPs and IT teams are under increasing pressure to keep businesses running through business-disrupting events such as cybersecurity breaches, natural disasters and other disruptions, while meeting stringent regulatory requirements," said David Raissipour, Chief Product and Technology Officer at ConnectWise. "With x360Recover, we're helping partners de-risk those environments by giving them the flexibility to meet a wide range of recovery objectives, minimise downtime and data loss, and maintain business continuity without compromising data residency or compliance. This investment makes it easier to build greater resilience into every environment they protect."
