Commvault & CrowdStrike unite for enhanced cyber defence
Commvault has announced a new integration with the CrowdStrike Falcon cybersecurity platform, aiming to enhance threat detection and data recovery for joint customers.
By incorporating CrowdStrike's security data and threat intelligence into the Commvault Cloud, this partnership aims to provide layered threat detection and quick data recovery solutions. The integration is portrayed as a significant advancement in dealing with fast-changing cyber threats. It enables organisations to have comprehensive visibility and streamline incident response processes.
When CrowdStrike detects suspicious or malicious activity, the alert becomes visible on the Commvault Cloud, allowing administrators to utilise the Threat Scan feature to check for threats and quickly revert affected data to a previously known safe state. This approach reportedly aims to help businesses maintain operations despite sophisticated cyberattacks.
Alan Atkinson, Chief Partner Officer at Commvault, remarked on the company's dedication to bolstering businesses' cyber resilience. He stated, "The average organization has seen 8 cyber incidents in the last year, 4 of which are considered major. At Commvault, we are committed to empowering businesses with the tools they need to not only safeguard their data but to enhance their overall cyber resilience. By partnering with CrowdStrike, we are combining our deep expertise in cyber resilience with their advanced threat detection capabilities, empowering our joint customers with faster response times and a stronger cyber resilience posture."
The integrated solution aims to deliver several key benefits through the use of CrowdStrike's Indicators of Compromise (IOCs) and AI-driven insights to identify threats swiftly, potentially enabling quicker response and mitigation efforts. The feature of accelerated clean data recovery is intended to allow organisations to identify the last known clean version of their data, thereby reducing downtime, which is highlighted as particularly crucial due to findings that 62% of respondents claimed downtime or data loss from attacks had been disruptive.
Furthermore, the integration aspires to streamline operations by promoting collaboration between SecOps and ITOps teams through a unified workflow. This is designed to enhance the response and recovery processes, thereby aiding continuous business operations even during cyberattacks.
This partnership contributes to Commvault's expanding ecosystem of security collaborations and reinforces its strategy in pushing the envelope of threat detection, mitigation, and recovery capabilities, supporting businesses to sustain operations amid escalating cyber threats.
