Cequence posts record quarter on agentic AI security

Fri, 12th Jun 2026 (Today)

Cequence Security reported a record fourth quarter and closed the largest deal in its history, driven by demand for agentic AI security.

The strongest growth came from telecommunications, financial services, and energy and utilities, with customer wins across the Americas, Asia-Pacific, and the Middle East. Cequence also expanded its presence in broader Asia-Pacific and Canada during the period.

A notable transaction came from Japan, where it signed its biggest contract to date with a leading telecommunications provider. It also added new customers in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, South Korea, Brazil, and the United States across financial services, government, and critical infrastructure.

Existing customers increased spending during the quarter. Combined with new logo wins, that helped deliver the strongest quarter in the company's history at the close of its fiscal year.

Growth in the Middle East stood out. Cequence added customers in digital banking, fintech, and government across Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates, and was selected over incumbent suppliers in two competitive evaluations.

Product push

Alongside sales growth, the company expanded its product set for customers deploying autonomous AI systems. Cequence recently made Agent Personas generally available within its AI Gateway product, which is designed to assign and govern least-privilege access for AI agents.

The feature gives organisations control over what AI agents are allowed to do at the level of individual tool calls. AI Gateway also now includes more than 190 verified enterprise application integrations.

The results reflect a broader effort by security vendors to position themselves around the risks created as companies connect AI agents to internal systems, applications, and data. Cequence has built its business around application and API security and is now extending that pitch to organisations adopting agentic AI.

Its partner network also grew during the year. New partners included GuidePoint, Aplidigital, and IT-Harmony, and Cequence activated new relationships across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Asia-Pacific, and Latin America.

One of those deals marked its first customer win sourced entirely through its channel partner programme in Southeast Asia. That matters because security software providers often rely on regional channel partners to reach regulated sectors and local enterprise buyers.

Leadership hire

Cequence also appointed Chandra Rentachintala as Vice President of Engineering during the quarter. He has held roles at Microsoft, Myspace, DiDi, Shape Security, F5, and Palo Alto Networks.

The appointment comes as the company tries to sustain product development while broadening its international reach. Engineering leadership has become a more visible issue for security companies as they adapt existing products to new AI-related use cases.

Industry recognition formed another part of the company's update. Cequence cited its ranking in Deloitte's Technology Fast 500, a leadership position in KuppingerCole's Leadership Compass for API Security and Management, and an award from SC Media for API security.

It also pointed to work on standards and guidance for AI security, including a role in TM Forum's AI-Native Blueprint Initiative on Agentic Interaction Security and co-authorship of CIS companion guides covering AI agents, large language models, and model context protocol environments.

"Enterprises are racing to put agentic AI to work, but the security foundation to support it simply hasn't kept pace. Our customers, whether they're defending against sophisticated fraud, securing critical APIs, or safely connecting AI agents to their most sensitive applications, are all solving versions of the same problem. This quarter's results reflect what happens when you've spent a decade building toward this moment. The market is ready, and so are we," said Ameya Talwalkar, Chief Executive Officer, Cequence.
