Cequence partners with Aramco Digital to enhance Saudi API security
Cequence, a leading player in API security and bot management, has announced a significant partnership with Aramco Digital Company, the digital and technology subsidiary of Saudi Aramco. This strategic collaboration is expected to enhance API security across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The two companies have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to outline plans for strengthening digital transformation within Saudi Arabia's industrial sectors. The collaboration aims to implement Unified API Protection (UAP) to secure critical data and functionality exposed through APIs. Aramco Digital Company, recently launched, is focused on accelerating digital transformation across the Kingdom and the wider Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. A first-of-its-kind API Protection offering for Aramco Digital Company's (ADC) Marketplace is also under consideration.
The formal agreement was signed by Ameya Talwalkar, CEO of Cequence, and Moataz Lami, Chief Information Security Officer of Aramco Digital. The signing ceremony was also attended by Andy Mills, Vice President for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) at Cequence, and James Sherlow, Director of Solutions Engineering at Cequence.
"The expansion of the digital landscape, especially with the advance of generative AI and its reliance on APIs, has made APIs the primary target for attackers," said Talwalkar. "As APIs underpin the digital transformation, their security is essential. This partnership highlights our commitment to delivering state-of-the-art API security solutions to protect sensitive data and ensure the smooth and secure adoption of AI in enterprises."
Cequence's innovative Unified API Protection platform distinguishes itself as the only API protection solution that integrates Bot Management to eliminate previously unknown and unmitigated security risks across web, mobile, and various stages of the API security lifecycle. By using Cequence's platform, organisations can protect crucial applications from data loss, fraud, and business disruption, while security teams benefit from continuous protection of their entire API risk surface. This platform enables organisations to leverage the advantages of ubiquitous API connectivity securely and comply with regulatory standards.
In 2023, Cequence expanded its presence in the Middle East, backed by an investment from Prosperity7 Ventures to meet the rising demand in the region. The company also partnered with AmiViz, the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region's first enterprise B2B marketplace, to introduce the UAP platform to regional enterprises. Cequence's role as a pioneer in the region is underscored by its efforts to safeguard a growing portfolio of organisations, including the largest telecommunications provider in the area. This highlights their capability to offer comprehensive, high-quality solutions tailored to the unique challenges and nuances prevalent in the region and across different industries.
The partnership between Cequence and Aramco Digital Company is anticipated to accelerate the adoption of reliable API security measures across the Kingdom, providing a robust framework that caters to the burgeoning digital landscape. Both companies are poised to make significant strides in enhancing the overall cybersecurity posture within one of the world's most rapidly advancing digital economies.
