Celonis named Gartner leader in digital twin market

Celonis has been named a Leader in the 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Digital Twin of an Organisation Platforms, with Gartner positioning it highest on the Ability to Execute axis.
The ranking marks Celonis's second Leader placement in a Gartner Magic Quadrant this year, following its recognition in Process Intelligence.
Platform model
Digital twin of an organisation platforms create virtual models of business operations, including processes, systems and people. Celonis says this gives artificial intelligence systems the operational context needed to analyse workflows and act in business settings.
Its underlying framework, the Celonis Context Model, combines process data, business knowledge and decision intelligence into what Celonis describes as a system-independent digital twin of operations. The platform is designed to help organisations analyse, design and run AI-driven processes, and deploy AI tools in business-critical areas.
In Gartner's assessment, as cited by Celonis, the company's strengths included product strategy, data integration and sector-specific offerings. The assessment also pointed to Celonis's work combining process design, monitoring and execution, along with integrations with platforms including Databricks and Microsoft Fabric.
It also highlighted prebuilt connectors, data integration tools and industry-focused packages, including offerings for defence, security and supply chain operations. Gartner noted uptake in regulated and operationally complex sectors.
Customer use
Celonis says customers using its software have collectively realised more than USD $11 billion in value. It presented that figure alongside examples of how digital twins and AI are being used in large organisations.
One example cited is Novo Nordisk, which has built a digital twin of its end-to-end processes for drug development. The pharmaceutical group currently has more than 100 AI agents in clinical development, and Celonis says most run on the context layer provided by its platform.
Stephanie Bova, R&D Digital Transformation Officer, Novo Nordisk, described the role of the technology in deciding where AI should be deployed.
"Without a digital twin of how your business operates, understanding where to deploy AI for maximum impact is impossible. With Celonis, we believe it's possible to significantly reduce time to market from First-in-human to submission, and we're targeting up to two years in cycle time reduction," said Stephanie Bova, R&D Digital Transformation Officer, Novo Nordisk.
Analyst recognition
Celonis Co-Founder and Co-Chief Executive Officer Alexander Rinke linked the category's growth to the broader push to use artificial intelligence in business transformation programmes. He said AI and digital twins are increasingly being deployed together, with AI helping build and use digital twins more efficiently, while digital twins provide the structured business context AI needs.

He added that digital twins translate business operations into a form artificial intelligence can understand, covering people, processes and systems. In his view, that gives enterprise AI the visibility needed to make decisions and carry out tasks in operational settings.
The latest recognition adds to a broader run of analyst endorsements for the company in process-related software markets. Celonis also says Everest Group placed it in the highest position in its 2026 PEAK Matrix Assessment for Process Mining for the seventh consecutive year.
