Blackwired has signed its first partnership in Japan with NTT Security Japan, expanding local access to Blackwired's ThirdWatch threat intelligence platform.

The agreement adds ThirdWatch to NTT Security Japan's security operations and managed security services for organisations across Japan. It includes Blackwired's 3D threat visualisation and automated analysis.

Japan expansion

Blackwired is a cyber threat intelligence provider focused on monitoring hostile activity linked to state-backed groups and advanced cybercriminals. It describes ThirdWatch as a platform that continuously produces curated threat intelligence from proprietary and closed sources.

Under the partnership, NTT Security Japan will integrate ThirdWatch into its security service delivery. NTT Security Japan has provided security operations centre services and managed security support for more than 20 years.

Blackwired positions ThirdWatch as a way to identify activity earlier in an attack's lifecycle, including reconnaissance and preparation that may not trigger standard alerting systems.

It also describes the offering as "pre-emptive cyber defence", using artificial intelligence in its analysis and presenting activity through a 3D visual interface.

Threat intelligence focus

Threat intelligence has become a larger part of managed security services as organisations face a wider mix of intrusion attempts, ransomware, and supply chain compromise. Many security teams already receive high volumes of telemetry and alerts from network and endpoint tools, and providers have increasingly sought external intelligence to add context and signal which activity presents immediate risk.

Blackwired says its monitoring covers state-sponsored attackers and advanced cybercriminals in real time. It describes its output as highly curated and designed for continual consumption rather than periodic reporting.

Some organisations are also turning to visualisation tools as security environments grow more complex. Large enterprises and public bodies often manage extensive networks of affiliates, contractors, and technology partners, which can make it difficult to maintain a consistent view of exposure and prioritised risk across the supply chain.

Blackwired and NTT Security Japan identified public sector organisations, critical infrastructure operators, specialist cyber defence providers, and large enterprises as likely users in Japan. These environments often feature multiple networks and varied levels of control over third-party access.

Service integration

NTT Security Japan said it will use the platform as part of its risk-reduction approach, aiming to identify malicious activity earlier. In managed security settings, earlier identification can expand response options, allowing isolation, credential changes, or targeted monitoring before an intrusion progresses.

Financial terms were not disclosed. The companies also did not say whether the offering will be packaged as a standalone service tier or incorporated into existing contracts.

Blackwired is headquartered in Singapore and has offices in North America, the UK, the EU, and Asia-Pacific. The Japanese partnership expands its footprint in a market where domestic providers and global vendors compete for managed security and intelligence contracts.

NTT Security Japan is part of the wider NTT Group, which has long positioned cybersecurity as a strategic service line. The group combines incident response, threat detection, and managed security operations with research and development resources.

Blackwired Chief Executive Officer Jeremy Samide said the company sees ThirdWatch as supporting a more proactive approach to threat activity.

"ThirdWatch is designed to predict and prevent cyber-attacks before they strike, reducing the risk of intellectual property theft, data loss, regulatory exposure and operational downtime," said Jeremy Samide, CEO, Blackwired. "That's what pre-emptive cyber defence should look like in 2026. Organisations can no longer afford to wait for alerts after the breach, they need visibility into threats before impact."

Blackwired and NTT Security Japan plan to make ThirdWatch available through NTT Security Japan's service portfolio for organisations operating in Japan.
