BlackBerry and Okta partner to deliver seamless identity and access capabilities

FYI, this story is more than a year old

BlackBerry has announced a new technology integration between Okta's Identity Cloud and BlackBerry Spark unified endpoint management.

While many organisations are struggling to embrace the new work-from-anywhere world, it is integral that organisations can work seamlessly and securely from any device and any location.

The integration of Okta and BlackBerry UEM enables organisations to make the authentication experience frictionless, optimise workforce productivity and maintain the highest security posture.

BlackBerry says identity authentication is a foundational component of an organisation's zero-trust strategy.

BlackBerry UEM, a comprehensive endpoint management solution, enables employee productivity across an organisation's devices, applications, users, and use cases. BlackBerry UEM is used by many of the world's largest organisations, including governments, financial services and healthcare.

"BlackBerry UEM gives employees the flexibility to work from anywhere, and organisations the confidence their corporate data is always protected," says BlackBerry vice president of technical solutions, Alex Willis.

"We are delighted to partner with Okta, a leading provider of identity management, to deliver advanced security and a superior employee experience to our customers around the world."

Lee Tschetter, Director of Technical Strategy, Okta, adds, "Organisations no longer have to choose between productivity and security as they arm their workforce with the digital tools they need.

"We are pleased to partner with BlackBerry to offer our mutual customers an integrated, best-in-class solution for their identity and access management needs."

BlackBerry provides intelligent security software and services to enterprises and governments around the world. The company secures more than 500 million endpoints, including more than 195 million vehicles.

Based in Waterloo, Ontario, the company leverages artificial intelligence and machine learning to deliver innovative cybersecurity, safety and data privacy solutions. It is a leader in endpoint security, endpoint management, encryption, and embedded systems.

The partnership with Okta comes off the back of BlackBerry teaming up with Google and Qualcomm last month in a bid to drive advancements in next-generation automotive cockpits.

BlackBerry announced the availability of a QNX Hypervisor and VIRTIO-based reference design to virtualise Android Automotive OS on the 3rd Generation Snapdragon Automotive Cockpit Platform, helping automakers to deliver the "ultimate cockpit experience" while accelerating time to market.

In early October, BlackBerry announced it joined forces with Deloitte to secure IoT software supply chains.

As part of the agreement, Deloitte will leverage BlackBerry's flagship software composition analysis tool, BlackBerry Jarvis to provide Open source Software (OSS), Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) and Software Bill of Materials (SBOM) analysis on behalf of their clients across the medical, automotive and aerospace industries, empowering them to keep software safe and secure based on the actionable intelligence the platform provides.
