BeyondTrust names Sean Malone as new Chief Information Security Officer

BeyondTrust has appointed Sean Malone as its new Chief Information Security Officer, entrusting him with the company's global security strategy.

Sean Malone joins BeyondTrust with more than fifteen years of experience in the cybersecurity sector, holding roles that have included offensive security, cyber risk quantification, and executive leadership.

In his new position, Malone will be responsible for overseeing the security of BeyondTrust's products and services, managing threat detection and response, assessing and mitigating cyber risk, ensuring compliance, and directing security operations on a worldwide scale.

During his tenure at Demandbase as Chief Information Security Officer, Malone led global security operations and influenced research and development strategy, while regularly advising the executive leadership team on governance of cyber risk. His prior experience also includes contributing to cyber defence at Amazon Prime Video, and holding leadership roles at VisibleRisk and BitSight, where he focused on quantifying and effectively communicating cyber risk to stakeholders.

Malone's technical achievements include holding a U.S. patent for "Systems and Methods for Assessment of Cyber Resilience." His career is characterised by a combination of practical expertise and strategic planning, which BeyondTrust believes makes him equipped to strengthen the company's security framework.

Malone was recently recognised as a winner of the 2025 Pacific Northwest ORBIE awards, a programme which honours Chief Information Security Officers who have demonstrated excellence in both technology leadership and the generation of business value through technological innovation.
