Attestiv unveils deepfake detection tool for video

Fri, 8th Nov 2024

Attestiv has announced the launch of a new commercial-grade deepfake detection platform, aimed at empowering individuals and businesses to combat fake videos.

The newly introduced software from Attestiv is available in both free and premium versions and offers a user-friendly interface for determining the authenticity of digitised video content. As fake videos become increasingly prevalent across digital platforms, this development is timely, especially with the approach of major election events like the US elections in 2024.

Attestiv's platform utilises proprietary AI analysis to detect deepfake content, providing users with a detailed breakdown of any artificial elements present. This feature is instrumental for businesses and societal sectors where integrity and security are paramount, such as banking, insurance, real estate, media, and healthcare.

Nicos Vekiarides, Founder and Chief Executive Officer at Attestiv, commented on the significance of the release: "With the relentless inundation of generative AI tools that can be used for fakery and deception, we are glad to help level the playing field with the launch of our free deepfake video detection platform. We've taken years of fake and fraud detection experience, proven in demanding insurance applications, and made it available for everyone to protect themselves and their businesses from this cyber threat that can cause immense reputational and monetary harm."

The landscape of digital media has seen rapid changes with the evolution of artificial intelligence technology, leading to the creation of realistic yet fabricated content. Reuters reported that these AI-generated videos are increasingly difficult to distinguish from reality, a concern noted by government agencies like the National Security Agency, which has issued advisories on dealing with such synthetic media.

Attestiv's tool, according to the company, is designed not only to help individuals verify the authenticity of videos but also to serve as a safeguard against potential fraud and reputational damage. The application of this technology signifies a stride forward in maintaining trust and credibility within digital interactions.

"Attestiv offers the industry's first cloud-scale fraud protection platform for videos, photos and documents, serving the insurance, financial services, news, and media sectors," the company said.

"Utilising patented AI and tamper-proofing technology, Attestiv enables protection against media tampering, alteration, and generative AI, ensuring the highest standards of trust for business."
