Trend Micro has taken the most prized spot in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Endpoint Protection Platforms, featuring both the highest and furthest in the category.

The company, which has featured in the category since 2002, scored highest in the quadrant for its ability to execute and completeness of vision.

Trend Micro states the Leader position draws attention to its XGen security endpoint tool, which uses a ‘high fidelity' approach to analyse files before and during their runtime. It also uses ‘noise cancellation' to reduce false positives, unlike other security suites.

“We feel that effective security requires a cross-generational blend of threat defence techniques. In my view, our placement of highest and furthest within the Leaders quadrant recognises our visionary approach to security,” comments Kevin Simzer, Trend Micro's executive VP, sales marketing and business development.

The XGen solution is able to protect endpoints across data centers and cloud by optimising protection for workloads across VMware, AWS and Microsoft Azure.
