New Zealand’s Laidlaw College implements Tribal ebs:VET
Wed, 14th Sep 2022
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Laidlaw College, the largest interdenominational theological college in New Zealand, has announced that it has gone live with Tribal’s student management system.

Explicitly designed for vocational education and training providers, ebs:VET is an off-the-shelf student management system, which uses knowledge, best practices, and powerful features from the enterprise version of ebs.

The rapidly deployable ebs:VET suits the business process and workflow needs of a wide range of vocational education and training providers (from 250 EFTS upwards). It can be deployed and up and running in a matter of weeks. It has been deployed in hundreds of educational institutions globally and is now set to transform Laidlaw College's staff and students experience.

Implemented on schedule and over ten months, ebs:VET includes all core and statutory compliance modules to support Laidlaw College's student administration processes and over 12 years of migrated data from the college's legacy system and business-critical integrations.

The college implementation also includes a dedicated staff portal and student portal interfaces.

The ebs Student Portal will support students with a range of functions. From submitting applications to course selection, and will provide visibility across key datasets such as student financials, results, document uploads, and communications.

Students will also have complete visibility of their application stages and will be able to interact online to undertake functions such as acceptance of offers.

The ebs Staff Portal will also allow key stakeholders within Laidlaw College to view student data within a fully responsive web portal.

It will also support academic heads with the student application process.

Academic staff will be able to communicate with learners directly from the portal, either individually or in groups.

Several integrations between ebs and other core systems have been delivered within the implementation, including Moodle, Public Trust, NSI, StudyLink, Library System, and the Finance System.

“We are committed to continually strengthening our systems and processes to support the student experience, academic excellence, and the distinctive mission and ethos of Laidlaw. Tribal ebs offered us a solution that works across our diverse team and contexts, and will help us pursue our mission more effectively and efficiently," says Dr Roshan Allpress, CEO Laidlaw College.

Laidlaw College is a Category 1 NZQA accredited tertiary educational institution with campuses in Auckland and Christchurch. It offers qualifications from certificate to postgraduate level to around 1,000 students. This year Laidlaw College celebrates its centenary.

Meanwhile, the Tribal Group is an education software and services provider. Its portfolio includes Student Information Systems; a broad range of education services covering quality assurance, peer review, benchmarking and improvement; and student surveys.

“We’re excited to welcome Laidlaw College into the ebs family. Laidlaw joins a growing community of ebs cloud users in New Zealand and we look forward to continuing work with the team at Laidlaw to extend out the capabilities of ebs in future project phases,” adds Steve Exley, General Manager, Tribal New Zealand.
